On January 28, 2020 I began to pack for what would, without a doubt, be one of the biggest adventures of my life. I got some clothes together as well as chargers and toiletries and stuffed them all in one very sizable suitcase (with the help of my mom, and my dad as apparently he is a better packer than both of us) as I knew I would need quite a few things, as for the next three months of my life I would be not only visiting Iceland for a week, but spending my last semester enrolled at UNK studying abroad in Spiddal, Ireland.
The previous semester of this academic year was easily one of the busiest times of my entire life as I was preparing for several trips in the coming months, but I was also working on my Senior Research Project, which was incredibly stressful, but equally rewarding. I knew that once my project was done, I was basically in the clear for the rest of my time at college as very few things had been as demanding of time and energy as that project.
Once I had finished out my final Fall semester, I moved back home for about a month and a half to spend time with family and friends. This consisted of family trips to Omaha as well as personal trips to go visit friends in Kearney as I knew that I would not see them for three months. There is a lot that can change in that amount of time in peoples’ lives, so I sincerely hope that they know I miss them every day and that I look forward to seeing them once this experience comes to a close.
My time in Ireland is just beginning, so I look forward to being able to share my experience more with those who are interested as this experience continues to unfold!
